Word for the day "Power of parenting"

Genesis 25:27-28(MSG) The boys grew up. Esau became an expert hunter, an outdoorsman. Jacob was a quiet man preferring life indoors among the tents. Isaac loved Esau because he loved his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob. Today just another provocative message about parenting, and family. While every family is unique, no family is perfect, and there are no universal answers that fit every family. It has been my understanding following scriptural and practical paradigms can provide the best opportunity for raising children and how not to raise children.I have learned since my days of raising my daughter and now in the helping to raise my grand daughter do not compare your children. The quickest way to alienate children is to compare a child to a brother or sister. Never compare your children to brothers, sisters, or the neighbor kids. Comparison is the quickest path to inferiority complex with children. After all today’s text shows that Jacob’s mother Rebekah had favored him, while his father Isaac favored Esau, Jacob’s brother. In part due to this, the brothers parted company as adults, and only later reconciled (Gen 33:1-4). Do you see these destructive patterns in your family heredity?  You have the power to change them today if you want?Let your children know without a shadow of doubt that she or he is equally loved, respected, and important to you and your family v28! Make sure your children know that each person is a gift from God. Over protection produces under development in your childrens lives socially, morally and spiritually. Accept that your children will eventually have to make and be responsible for their own choices, but let them clearly know you love them with an unconditional love.Elder Baker
