Word for the day: "God sees me"

Genesis 16:13 (NIV) She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen^[c] the One who sees me.”Sisters and brother’s do you ever wonder if God is really “right here, right now”? Do you wonder if God hears your prayers, if God understands your feelings, or if God really knows your heart? When you have doubts about your Father in heaven, remember this: God isn’t on a time out or time off schedule and God hasn’t moved out of reach of you. He’s right here, right now, listening to your thoughts and prayers, watching over your every move. In this expression (NRSV: El-roi the God who sees all Genesis 16:13)The Bible teaches that a wonderful way to get to know God is simply to be still and listen to Him. But sometimes, you may find it hard to slow yourself down long enough to quiet your mind and tune up your heart. And as the demands of everyday life weigh down upon you, you may be tempted to ignore God’s presence or, worse yet, just rebel against His commandments. But, when you quiet yourself and acknowledge His presence, God touches your heart and restores your spirits. So why not let God do it right now? If you really want to know Him better, silence is a wonderful place to start. (Last week I shared the issue of prayer and meditation)Sarah’s servant Hagar called God by this name “El-roi” when the angel of the Lord appeared to her in the wilderness. After conceiving a child by Abraham, she had been driven away by Sarah the wife of Abraham. The Lord assured Hagar that He was aware of her plight, and He would bless her and others through the life of her unborn child. I just thought I’d remind you God knows your plight this day!After Hagar gave birth to a son, she named him Ishmael, meaning “God hears.” Hagar’s experience shows us that the Lord is not distant and detached God who refuses to get involved in our lives. But our God sees our needs, hears our prayers , and comes to our aid in our times of trouble.
