Word for the day: "I will not let you go until you bless me"

Genesis 32:26 “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” 27 So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” 28 And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”Sometimes our prayers and time with God are merely mechanical and filled with expressions of set phrases. The freshness and vitality of life has gone out of our time spent with God often times. But, in today’s word Jacob who has his name changed to “Israel” by God gives us a snapshot of how to recapture an efficacious relationship with our God. The name Israel means V 28 “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”We must struggle to maintain our sense of intimacy with God, just like we see Jacob (Israel) make known in today’s word. Without an intense desire, there is no burden of the soul, no vision, and no glow of faith to reach towards. There is no strong pressure, no holding on to God as if your life depends on it, with a despairing grasp. God draws close to the desperate calls and clutches of His children. These types of responses and practices in connecting with God could never be mechanical because they are born out of an urgency only God can remedy. So, to those who want to know God and experience His blessings like Jacob (Israel) , remember the passage V28 he prevailed with God and with men. Overwhelmingly, when you find yourself in this circumstance; the blessings of God are revealed in your life as if you have been with God face to face, you will be preserved and prevail in your times of struggle and desperation. Look at what the passage says in V 30 So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” Sisters and Brothers we must not let go of God until He blesses us, enjoy your time Blessings and I promise you God will bless you.Elder Baker
