Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV) Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.19 Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.Solomon, a leader who clearly struggled against his own defects, speaks with a measure of experience and personal insight when he writes, “When pride comes, then comes, dishonor, but with the humble is wisdom.” (Proverbs 11:2). He also addressed the destructive nature of pride when he wrote, today’s message posted above. Pride breeds patterns of destruction in our lives and we must watch out for our motives at all times.Notice in scripture Pride is almost exclusively linked with failure and stumbling. It is one of the human traits about which God has expressly declared His hatred (Proverbs 6:16-18). The insidious nature of pride is such that Christian leaders many times are in denial of its existence in their lives. Do you see where pride could exist in your life?The Bible speaks of pride with serious concern not only in the exercise of leadership but also in daily living. It can clearly be said that pride is a dangerous ungodly practice. In Ezekiel 28:17, it was pride that caused Lucifer (Satan) to challenge God’s authority resulting in his expulsion from heaven. Sisters and brothers we must be urgently mindful of the patterns of pride in our lives and those around us. We must not be apathetic to the detrimental areas of in our lives, blessings always!
