Word for the day "God is our Father"

Psalm 68:5 (NIV) A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.I grew up in a family where my father was always there for me. He was a good man, a funny man, and yet he loved God but wasn’t totally committed to the faith. He was a man with a compassionate heart to all people. I was truly blessed to be born into his family. Some of you reading this message don’t have the same testimony. Your father wasn't a positive role model for you. Or, your father deserted your family or died young. You grew up without a father, and just hearing someone refer to “Dad” or “Daddy” is painful for you. The void of that all important person in your life has left an undeniable hurt within you.The role of your father is so important that it can effect how you perceive God as your heavenly father. I hope that no matter how bad your experience was with your father, that you won't be afraid to see God as your father now and today. Consider and take comfort in the words of Psalm 68 promising that God will be a father to the fatherless. So many people and some are friends of mine have grown up without a dad in their life and it hurts. Is that where you are today? Do you have a hurt of your dad, or your mom, or maybe your entire family? If so, cling to God's promise that he'll be a father to the fatherless. How that looks will be different in each situation. Some of you will take comfort directly in and with your heavenly father. To others, God will bring a father-figure into your life to begin to fill that hurt and void. As a result many choose the wrong men in our lives trying to fill the void and love that comes from our paternal fathers. If you have a daddy hurt, pray for God to fill that space within you, however He chooses. If you don't have that vacuum, and you're a man who was blessed like I was to have a dad that loved me and was there for me, look to see if God might be calling you to be a father to the fatherless on His behalf. My Dad transitioned eleven years ago on January 11, 2002, and I still miss him today. Just wanted to remind you that God is our Father relationally always and He won’t let us down!
