Word for the day "True Strength"
Joshua 1:7 (NASB) Only be strong and very courageous; [b]be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may [c]have success wherever you go. 8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may [d]be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will [e]have success. There is a striking difference between God’s words to Joshua and the notion of strength and courage that persist in our current Western culture of this time.Whether in our homes, TV shows, and in our various career paths, the idea is continually touted in our day that the one who is strong will make his or her own way, do his or her own thing, and not bow down to any authority. Our youth are strong if they stand up to their parents, and employees are courageous if they defy their employer. But God tells Joshua the way of true strength and of great courage is the way of obedience and loyalty. I have placed Moses over you, God says to Israel, and so you are to obey the law that he has given to you. The stronger you are, the more obedient you will be; the more courageous you are, the less you will second guess God’s authority or veer from the laws of God.Is this the decision-making paradigm under which you are operating? Or are you still trying to assert yourself, get your own way, and make your own path as you choose a husband, wife, pursue a career, or form your family life? The only way to truly succeed in any place, or in any situation, is by looking to God for direction and obeying his Word. When you do follow our God, you will find that you prosper wherever you are and no matter what you are called to do. So let's move towards "True Strength" in our lives.
