Word for the day "The myth in society today"
Matthew 6:19(NKJV) “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. For many in our society, the paradigm for success in what they receive in their monthly paycheck, and the trophies of success are the grown-up “toys” their earnings can purchase for them. This is “Who I am and What I make” myth, which tempts people to base their self-worth on the money and material goods they can accumulate! Are you like this or maybe ascribe to this school of thought? The person trapped in this particular delusion of our society’s mythology thinks: “If I could just work a little harder and longer this year, I will be able to upgrade my lease car to a newer and nicer model, and then I will be a success.” Trust me sisters and brothers this is real talk today. This paradigm for success myth explodes in the light of reports from psychologists and counselors that the wealthiest in our society are often also the angriest. Studies show that misguided greed leads to social hostility in our society. When we don’t have enough, we get angry because we can’t buy all the things we want. And when we have more than we need, we can be angry because the things we do buy don’t bring us the fulfillment we seek. I know I have to be mindful of this type of thinking, it has happen to me!!!Today’s scripture teaches that a life preoccupied with collecting material possessions, is the life of a fool. We need to get better acquainted with Jesus. Jesus is the One who came to give real life and joy to the fullest. I unapologetically share today’s message and send it in the name of the Lord for you and your family!!!
