Word for the day "Remember the Sabbath day"

Exodus 20:8 (NASB) “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who [e]stays with you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. When the Lord gave Moses the Ten Commandments, it became perfectly clear that our awesome God intended for us to make the Sabbath a holy day, a day for worship, for contemplation, for fellowship, and for rest. Yet we live in a seven-day-a-week world, a world that all too often treats the Sabbath as a regular workday. The Jewish Sabbath or Shabbat as they call it, starts at sundown on Friday. Orthodox Jews don’t even start their cars on the Sabbath, instead they walk to synagogue. As Christians our day of rest is Sunday. I encourage you to take your Sabbath day of rest seriously. If you carve out the time for a day of worship and praise, you will really be amazed at the impact it will have on the rest of your week. But if you fail to honor God’s day, if you treat the Sabbath as a day to work or a day to party, you’ll miss out on a harvest of blessings that is only available one day each week. Clearly we should treat every day as worship unto the Lord, but the Sabbath is in a class by itself unto the Lord! How does your family observe the Lord’s Day? When church is over, do you treat Sunday like any other day of the week? If so, it’s time to think long and hard about your family’s schedule and priorities. If you’ve been treating Sunday as just another day, it’s time to break that habit. When Sunday rolls around, don’t try to fill every spare moment. Take time to go easy and slow down, as our Great God has instructed! Please reflect on this word today, because I sure did and I am now writing about it.Prayer: Lord, help me to follow and keep your Sabbath Holy and acceptable to You! Help we Your children to pause from our toil and dedicate this sacred day of the week to resting in You. In Christ name, Amen……
