Word for the day "Some good Soul food"
Isaiah 66:13 (NIV) As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.”I remember growing up as a little boy in South Brooklyn, NY, in the projects called Red Hook; do you have this childhood winter memory? You know the one where you are playing outside in the snow? Your clothes get all wet and frozen. Your ankles and wrists are numb from the snow that snuck inside your dungarees (now called jeans). You run inside, and your mom has some warm soul food ready to eat or at least that’s how it was in my apartment in the projects. Now that's comfort to me! What childhood memory brings comfort to you?The word comfort is Latin and means 'to give strength or staying power,' or 'to soothe in time of affliction or distress.' Who in your world needs strength or staying power? Do you need comfort? God can be your comfort in the cold and biting weather of life. God's love, sent through the promises of his Word, just as some good soul food is a meal of comfort. Much like a warm blanket is for some people, there's a piece of God's Word to wrap your heart in when today's winds blow cold.Point to ponder- Comfort is not a warm and fuzzy word, it’s a word that brings an internal stability to your life in the tough times. God’s word in my mind is like soul food; good to the last drop! Have a fantastic day!For His Glory,Pastor James Baker, Jr.
