Word for the day "You need a Confidant"
James 5: 16 (NIV) Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.God is always our first and primary audience for confession. But please note God isn't our only audience. Scripture tells us also to confess our sins to fellow believers. This is an extremely important and beneficial aspect of spiritual growth and health, if conducted wisely. Do you have a Confidant?First, let me say that this type of confession isn't an all-encompassing command. That is, it isn't baring your soul to anyone, and everyone nosey enough to listen. In fact, it’s probably not a good idea to confess to anyone who isn't spiritually mature. We often have a problem in the area of discerning who is who in our lives!Second, confession to fellow believers is an act of trust, and this makes you highly vulnerable. The person to whom you confess must be able to keep your confession confidential. If you can't trust your confidant, he/she shouldn't be your confidant. To be of value, confession must be honest and complete, you must feel safe in your selection of the confidant. So, stay true to God's instruction to confess our sins to one another, but be wise and be cautious. And begin your search for a Confidant if you don’t already have one! We need authentic relationships in our lives.Point to Ponder- Confidant's are people who can be trusted with your actual self, with each of you growing and loving on each other in a viable relatiosnhip! For His Glory,Pastor James Baker, Jr.
