Word for the day "God, Us, and the truth"
John 5:40 (NASB) And you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life. What a terrible, treacherous concern sin is! In Jesus Christ is everlasting life, and yet our sinful nature willfully rejects the abundant life for the pursuit of the non-existent. Our passion by nature is to seek lasting pleasure outside of the loving embrace of Christ. But there is no such thing, as last pleasure outside of the Lord. Please take a moment here and embrace what I am saying! Not only are we unable to turn to Christ on our own, we are unwilling to turn to Christ on our own. We could not if we wanted to, but here is the amazing truth — we would not even if we could. We would never repent, never turn, never submit, never believe of our own free will. Do you agree with me? It’s ok if you don’t agree with me, I know this to be the amazing truth surrounding our relationship with the Lord (John 3:19)!This is the depth of our depravity. It deceives our heart and leads us away from the love, forgiveness, peace, and joy of the one and only Savior. We would rather die in the attempt to save ourselves than to rest in the capable arms and work of Jesus Christ. Sometimes is just good to read and know the honest truth people of God! The Lord call us unto Himself, yes the Lord chooses us to be in relationship with (John 15).Point to ponder- How is it with you today? Is there unaddressed sin in your life? Are you seeking to hide behind the fig leaves of your own righteousness? Are you unwilling to come to Christ that you might have life? Or have you accepted Christ on your terms and not the Lord’s? Today's message does not make you a bad person, it just reminds us that God is our Savior and we cannot Save ourselves!I am acutely aware today’s message is meant for everyone but not everyone will embrace it, enjoy the rest of your day!In His Service,Pastor James Baker, Jr.
