Word or the day "The Gift of Mentorship"

Proverbs 19:20 (NCV) Listen to advice and accept correction, and in the end you will be wise.At this point in your life would you like an authentic way to build character? If so, then you should find authentic mentors; men and women whose character you admire, and just imitate various aspects of their character. Do you have a mentor? Do you need a mentor? Who is your mentor? How about taking steps in getting a mentor?A seasoned mentor in your life can help you make character-building choices. And just as importantly, a thoughtful mentor can help you recognize and avoid the hidden big-time mistakes that can derail your day (or your life). We all need mentors in our lives and those that can add value to the person we are and are becoming!Wise mentors are not really very hard to find if you look in the right places (but they are almost impossible to find if you look in the wrong places!). So today, as an exercise in character-building, select from your friends and family members a mentor whose judgment you trust (or in many instances someone not in your circle of friends or family). Then listen carefully to your mentor’s advice and be willing to accept that advice even if accepting it requires work or pain, or both. Consider your mentor to be God’s gift to you. Thank God for that gift, and use it to be the person you need to be in character and integrity.Rely on the advice of trusted friends and mentors. Proverbs 1:5 makes it clear: “A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel” (NKJV). Do you want to be wise? Seek counsel from wise people, and let’s start today.Quote: Howard Hendricks “The effective mentor strives to help a man or woman discover what they can be in Christ and then holds them accountable to become that person”. Our Leadership team is especially thankful for those of you who provided financial donations and support in the month of October 2016 by partnering with us in efforts to advance the kingdom of God in this 21st century season: Special thanks to Mr. William Wilson, Mr. Kenneth Washington, Ms. Sylvia Meza, Mrs. Denise Johnson, Mrs. Barbara Mason Sheron Farrow and Ms. Gertrude Scott.
