Word for the day "Speak truth to power"

II Kings 18:36 (MSG) The people were silent. No one spoke a word for the king had ordered, “Don’t anyone say a word—not one word!”Were you raised in a family that kept to this code? I read a story recently about a woman who learned these rules so well she carried them into all her relationships. As treatment progressed, the roots of her silence were revealed. How did you grow up?When she was two her father attempted to hang her. Her mother cut her down moments before she would have died. You’d think this traumatic event would have initiated help for her dad. Instead, everyone acted as if nothing was wrong. Then her father burned down their house and her brother rescued her from her crib. No wonder this woman wasn’t talking when she came to us. It took time, but she learned to break her lifelong rule of no talking.Point to ponder- Are you living by this code of silence? If you are, it’s important that you break through and speak the truth. If you don’t know how or know who to turn to-seek help from your pastor, or from a professional counselor. Men more than woman live their lives in utter silence, and very often leave this life in the despair of silence!As we are confronted with the realities in our country, maybe you will agree with me “Speak truth to power” I’d like to end today’s message with some words left on record by the Proverbial Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.!Quotes- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.
