Word for the day "The parenting challenge"
Luke 18:15-17 (MSG) People brought babies to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. When the disciples saw it, they shooed them off. Jesus called them back. “Let these children alone. Don’t get between them and me. These children are the kingdom’s pride and joy. Mark this: Unless you accept God’s kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you’ll never get in.”After raising my daughter Ashley, now having children herself. I felt today’s message would be good for some parents, grandparents, and all those who stand in the gap as parents. I recently heard a story about a couple who brought their two kids with them on a Saturday run to a hardware store. Mom went in one direction and Dad took the kids in another. For just a minute Dad wasn’t paying attention to the kids, he was preoccupied looking at some of the plumbing hardware he came to buy. When he turned around, he was stunned. His daughter was climbing off a display toilet and his son was pulling his pants down to take his turn. What in the world was Dad supposed to do now? Well, he did what most of us would have done, he grabbed the kids, found mom as quick as he could, and laughed the whole way home. And wouldn’t you know, the next time they visited that store, the toilet seats were all taped down.If you have kids, you know they can be hilarious, embarrassing, tender, and incredibly challenging. And as God’s children, I sometime wonder if he doesn’t feel the same way about us. Today’s message is dedicated to my grandchildren Amiyah 8, Dominique 3, Avery 4 and new born Tristan! Our Leadership team is especially thankful for those of you who provided financial donations and support in the month of March 2017 by partnering with us in efforts to advance the kingdom of God in this 21st century season: Special thanks to Mr. William Wilson, Ms. Annette Straker, Mr. Kenneth Washington, Mrs. Barbara Mason, Ms. Quiana Volney, Mrs. Marguerite Williams and Ms. Gertrude Scott.
