Word for the day "The shadow of Broken promises"
I Samuel 20:41 (NKJV) As soon as the lad had gone, David arose from a place toward the south, fell on his face to the ground, and bowed down three times. And they kissed one another; and they wept together, but David more so. 42 Then Jonathan said to David, “Go in peace, since we have both sworn in the name of the LORD, saying, ‘May the LORD be between you and me, and between your descendants and my descendants, forever.’” So he arose and departed, and Jonathan went into the city. Are there people living in the shadow of your broken promises? Is it too late to go back now and try to make amends? There’s one Bible story in particular that teaches us that it’s not too late. And it’s the story of King David and Jonathan.King David and Jonathan were the best of friends through incredible challenges, and the biggest one was that Saul, Jonathan’s father, ruthlessly hunted David and tried to kill him for years. Yet, Jonathan’s love for David was strong and didn’t diminish. As a result, David made a promise to always show kindness to Jonathan’s family. But for many years that promise went unrealized. And Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s only living son, lived for a long time with the pain of David’s broken promise. But then, David sought Mephibosheth out and kept his promise, he gave Mephibosheth all the land Saul once owned and allowed him to live in the palace as one of his own sons. It took him a while, but he held to his promise. And you can too!Point to ponder – The good news if you have any broken promises, you can keep them now it’s not too late great people of God. You can go back to school, you can reach out to that family member or friend, you can pay back that money owed, and even lived the life you have always wanted to live with the help of God!Our Leadership team is especially thankful for those of you who provided financial donations and support in the month of August 2017 by partnering with us in efforts to advance the kingdom of God in this 21st century season: Special thanks to Mr. William Wilson, Mr. David Straker, Mrs. Annette Straker, Mrs. Marguerite Williams, Ms. Gertrude Scott.
