Word for the day "The conscience factor"

I Timothy 1:5 (NKJV) Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith.

We must be careful about how to effectively allow our conscience to guide our lives.

Let your conscience be your guide. Perhaps today’s message of wisdom will make some measure of sense since our conscience is designed to help us discern right from wrong.

However, we as people cannot always trust our internal navigation system to guide us correctly; this is the case particularly with unbelievers, who don’t have the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth and offer guidance for wise decisions.

And while believers do have God’s indwelling Spirit, they should also be careful and especially not to harbor sin in their lives, as this can interfere with the way their morality sensor functions.

A trustworthy conscience is programmed with scriptural teaching. Believers build a stable and sensitive spiritual navigational system by applying God’s truth to their lives.

They are committed to thinking and acting in ways that honor and please the Lord. Then, when sinful thoughts or choices come across that navigational system, it will deliver a re-routing message. Have you ever experienced a re-routing message?

Conscience isn’t designed to be our guide; it is a tool of the guide we need for our life.

A person with a reliable conscience will have a strong desire to obey God. They won’t settle for what feels right or looks good, but instead prayerfully seeks the Lord’s will.

In other words, she/he does not rely solely on his conscience but incorporates all of the Holy Spirit’s tools into their daily life.

Scripture, prayer, etc. Moreover, with their spiritual navigational system, they are quick to draw back and reject unwise choices. Conscience isn’t designed to be our guide; it is a tool of the guide.

When God leads you on a certain path, the Lord is allowing you to learn something about yourself. We all need to learn how we will respond to test, temptations, and trials in our lives.

As we press into God during these times the roots of our faith are forced deeper and deeper into the soil of His grace.

Point to ponder

Many people think God would never lead His people into a life path to be tested. Some would even say this is the devil's doing.

The fact is, both statements are true. God actually uses Satan to test His servants to refine and develop obedience in their lives. May you live in the blessings of the Lord all the days of your life!
