Word for the day "Time to make peace with your family"

Genesis 49:33 (NKJV) And when Jacob had finished commanding his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed and breathed his last, and was gathered to his people.

Recently my family suffered the transition of the life of my beloved Aunt Michel White, today's message is a tribute to her life, leadership, and legacy.

Embracing the dysfunction in your family and moving forward. The story of Jacob in the Bible is one of a family in relational difficulties.

His family wasn’t the first dysfunctional family mentioned in the Bible, but they were certainly among the most prominent.

I know you have heard the saying, “like father, like son” Well, Jacob’s failure to be discreet, honest, patient, and his failure to give unconditional love had a terrible impact on his children.

He played favorites and set no clear boundaries on his children’s behavior. To say that his relationship with many of his sons was strained is an understatement.

Jacob’s family had some serious issues, just like so many of us in our families.

Whether you come from a family of dysfunction, like Jacob’s, or your family is more like the sitcom from back in the day the “Good Times, God calls us to honor our parents.

You could make the argument that he commands it! The peace needed in your family is vital to the legacy you leave in this life for your children and their children.

It’s time for peace to be a motivating factor in your life and legacy.

You may have the joy of honoring parents that have been all you could hope for, but some of you only have memories of parents who have hurt you, and that can be a challenging situation.

The passing years, lack of communication, and memories of angry, heated, emotional exchanges can create tremendous anxiety.

Where do you stand with your family? and how are things now? It’s time for peace with Dad, Mom, or whoever there is a serious disconnect from.

Family pain is the deepest pain because it was inflicted so early and because it involves people who should have been trustworthy.

However, the reason this message is in your proximity is that the Lord wants to heal you and your family today and now!

The Lord wants you to know that He desires to restore, rebuild, reignite, you and your family as we are in the third quarter of 2020.

In Genesis, we get a glimpse of one-way healing that can occur.

“ Then they said to one another, ‘We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us” (Genesis 42:21).

Acceptance and taking responsibility is a great place to begin the process of healing for your family.

The healing in your family may not emerge exactly like this, but it provides you a point of reference that healing and peace can take place when God is in it.

Point to ponder

God is in the redemption business. The Lord takes the bad things that happen to us and turns them for our good (Romans 8:28).

It may be a process, to first reconnect, to confront, to forgive, to realize your roles have changed, but God is still in the redemption business.

What issues are you facing?

• Abandonment
• Extramarital Affairs
• Troubled marriage (s)
• Deception
• Single-family
• Neglect
• Blended family
• Brokenness
• Sibling rivalry
• Addiction issues
• Incest
• Molestation
• Betrayal
• Abuse

No matter what you are facing God can still bring redemption. Please don’t forget today’s message people of God, have a marvelous day!
