BELOVED LEADERS,
I felt compelled to be vulnerable and share how I face my weaknesses every day. Perhaps you’ve come to this realization as well: We're all in this fight together. We're sincere in our desire to love and honor the Lord, but we're imperfect in how we express that love and devotion to Jesus. We're imperfect in how we treat others and in how we respond to the challenges of life.
Since this is conceivably true of all of us, we need to wrestle with the following questions: What is God’s plan for our weaknesses and imperfections? How can I move forward effectively in my relationship with God?
The term sanctification is both the process and practice of walking out our faith in a gradual, lifelong journey that won't be fully complete until the day the Lord returns for us. So, it's essential that we understand God's heart for us during our growth process and the inevitable mistakes we'll make along the way. You can read more about sanctification in (I Thessalonians 4:3, John 17, I Corinthians 1:30 ESV, II Peter 3:18).
GOD'S AMAZING LOVE
Here's how God's Word answers our pressing questions.
(Psalm 103:8-14) : "The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the East is from the West. The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust. "
We have a savior who experienced human temptation and trial and overcame them all without sinning. (Hebrews 4:14-16) reminds us that Jesus understands our weaknesses. When we humbly and honestly turn to God with our weaknesses, instead of running away from Him, He meets us with mercy and helps us in our time of need.
It took me some time in my walk with God to finally start believing that He isn't going to get frustrated with me and give up on me when I mess up. It took me a while to start feeling confident enough to believe in His love for me. It has taken me a while to come to the Lord when I sin and make mistakes. I still struggle with it sometimes. You might be struggling with that, too.
I believe you'll find encouragement in (Philippians 1:6) as I did: "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."
Jesus is in this with you for the long haul. He loves you, and He's committed to you and to His work in you. He's not giving up on you, and He's not going anywhere.
