Word for the day: "God Reigns"

Revelation 19:6 (KJV) And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. As we come to the end of another week, I just felt compelled to remind you that God is on the throne! The apostle John speaks this word of encouragement forcefully in Revelation 19:6: “Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth”! Sometimes it looks as though the throne of the universe is empty. We see violence and crime and don’t always see the justice that is supposed to follow. We see lies prosper while truth is minimized, and evil seems to be in control of God’s creation.Sometimes we wonder if it is really worth it to trust Christ and try to live for Him. The writer of this passage apostle John lived in a world not too different from ours. Of course, when he wrote the Book of Revelation, he wasn’t sitting in the comfort of his home, church, or college library surrounded by books and saying he is blessed and highly favored. No, when John wrote the Book of Revelation, he was a prisoner of Rome, exiled on the Isle of Patmos, surrounded by the waters of the Aegean Sea and separated from the people he loved.Imagine if you will this old man who had faithfully served Christ, now alone in exile, suffering for his faith in Christ. And yet, when he writes a book, it is not about himself and his hardships; it is about Jesus Christ and His triumphs. He doesn’t write, “Woe is me, look at what I am going through”. No matter how dark the day, no matter how heavy his trials, John was able to write in this time when no one was able to help him, v6 “Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth”! So today if you find yourself discouraged or worried or afraid, just remember the words of Apostle John “the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” Have an awesome weekend with your family and friends.Prayer: Lord God omnipotent who reigns in all the earth, I thank You for bringing we Your people to the end of another week with its challenges and crisis on every leaning side. We Your people still have just enough faith to say You are on the Throne and “Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth”! In Christ name amen.Elder Baker
