Word for the day: "Loving your Neighbors"

Matthew 22:37-40 (MSG) Jesus said, "'Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.'This is most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: 'Love others as well as you love yourself.' These two commands are pegs; everything in God's Law and the Prophets hangs from them."Beginning our week with the right perspective means to look within ourselves and allow the Lord to speak to our hearts. Sisters and brothers sometimes, it’s not about you, but instead it’s about your neighbors, who are experiencing a hard time, or crisis. And, of course, we know that we’re instructed to love our neighbors, and yet there’s so little time in our lives as we all know. In this life with the day to day things to do and we are all so busy if the truth be told. Yet no matter what; as children of God, we are commanded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to love our neighbors just as we love ourselves. And helping our neighbor (friend, acquaintance, and even enemy) and this must be done without excuses or reservation. The challenge has been issued to you this very day; you will encounter someone who needs a word of encouragement, a pat on the back, a helping hand, or a heartfelt prayer. And, if you don’t reach out to your friend, who will? If you don’t take the time to understand the needs of your neighbors, who will? If you don’t love your brothers and sisters, who will? So, today, look for a neighbor in need, and then do something to help them. Yes we must love God with all our hearts but there is a second command that must not be overlooked “Loving our Neighbors” God has called us to do this, so look at today’s word carefully and prayerfully.Quote: Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can. ~ John WesleyElder Baker
