Word for the day: "The Dove Came"
Genesis 8:11(KJV) And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off:Just for the record all I can say is “Blessed be the Lord for another day of mercy, even though I am now weary with its toil” words shared by Charles Haddon Spurgeon. Today I look unto the preserver of mankind and lift up a praise of gratitude for all the Lord has done in my life and the lives of His own. In this passage of Genesis the dove found no rest out of the ark, and therefore returned to it. This is the story of my life; that there is no satisfaction to be found in earthly things or anywhere outside of God. Only God alone can give rest to my spirit and covering for my life.As to my business affairs, my possessions, my family, my attainments, these are well enough in their own way, but cannot bring satisfaction to my soul or covering for my life. It was if the Dove was saying “O Lord, enable me this evening to return to Jesus” that’s the sentiments of my heart today. How about yours? Think about it if the dove could not endure to spend a night hovering over the restless waste, just like me (us) we can not endure this life for even another hour away from our Lord Jesus Christ. I found this message profound to be realized in the life of a dove, as it connects to our lives being God’s children. So blessed be our God, and so that when I wake from the night season of my life, I will still be with Him and God will still be with me (us). Lastly note v11 that the dove brought in her mouth an olive branch plucked off, the memorial of the past day, and prophecy of the future we have in God alone. The dove came to the ark just like we come to God for rest and covering because no rest or covering can be found anywhere else but in Jesus for our life. Remember the Dove came in to him in the evening!Prayer: Thank You Lord, for tender mercies that are new each morning and evening of every day and accept my heart of gratitude this day and for the rest of my life, I put forth my hand so that You would take me as Your dove into thine Presence in Christ name Amen!Elder Baker
