Word for the day: "Encourage Others"

Romans 12:8 (GNT) If it is to encourage others, we should do so. Whoever shares with others should do it generously; whoever has authority should work hard; whoever shows kindness to others should do it cheerfully. As we come to the end of another week; remember life is a team effort, and all of us need occasional pats on the back from our family, friends, and fellowships. This world can be a difficult place, a place where many of our friends and family members are troubled by the stresses and challenges of everyday life. And since we cannot always be certain who needs our help, we should strive to speak helpful words to all who cross our paths. (I learned this life lesson from my beloved Mom the late Ambassador Shirley Baker)As a faithful follower of Jesus, you have every reason to be hopeful, and you have every reason to share your hopes with others. When you do, you will discover that hope, like other human emotions, is an infectious influence on the lives of people. So do the world (and yourself) a favor: Look for the best in others and celebrate the good that you find. When you do, you’ll be a powerful force of encouragement to your friends and family, and a worthy servant to your God.Today’s word reminds us that, as Christians, we are instructed to encourage others, and do so generously build others up in this life with honest encouragement. How can we build others up? By celebrating their victories and their accomplishments cheerfully!Quote: No journey is complete that does not lead through some dark valleys. We can properly comfort others only with the comfort we ourselves have been given by God. Vance HavnerPrayer: Auspicious God, because I am one of Your sons, I am blessed. You have loved me always, cared for me faithfully, and saved me through the gift of Your Son Jesus. Just as You have lifted me up, Lord, let me lift up others in a spirit of encouragement and optimism and hope today. And, if I can help somebody in this life, even in a small way, Dear Lord, may all the glory be Yours, In Christ name Amen. Elder Baker
