Word for the day "The Power of your Confession"
James 5:16 (NLT) Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. Please beware sin likes to hide in the secret places of our lives. In secret and silence it gathers energy and continues its work. Confession, however, brings sin into the open where its power is broken. In today’s reading James, the half-brother of Jesus and a leader in the early church, knew this. Let's take a measured look at sin and how to minimize it's effect in our lives. In the book of James he encourages us to confess our sins to one another not just confess silently to God. But what are you to confess? First, you are exhorted to confess your offenses against others. Unconfessed sin erects barriers in relationships. Confession and forgiveness, however, break down these walls and allows God's love and power to flow freely among us.There are also times when you need to confess struggles that you are having trouble overcoming. Opening your heart to a trusted friend, pastor, or counselor can be a step toward experiencing the freedom of forgiveness. Are you feeling the pain resulting from bad choices or decisions?Point to ponder- Do you need to tell someone that you see how your actions have brought hurt and that you are sorry? Or do just need to set yourself free by simply coming clean? There is power in your confession. Our Leadership team is especially thankful for those of you who provided financial donations and support in the month of July 2016 by partnering with us in efforts to advance the kingdom of God in this 21st century season: Special thanks to Mr. William Wilson, Ms. Gertrude Scott, Mr. Kenneth Washington, Mrs. Barbara Mason, and Ms. Vanessa Gaskins.
