Word for the day "Seek the Lord and Live"
Amos 5:4 (NKJV) This is what the Lord says to Israel: ‘Seek me and live.So many of us today have become ambivalent in our devotion to God? The answer is simple, we have turned to other things to sustain us and to give life. We have tried to encourage ourselves without God. We have turned and walked in the opposite direction, searching for something new and thinking it will satisfy our needs. We fill the vacancies in our lives with people instead of God.Then, before we know it, they do something to disappoint us, and we immediately feel betrayed and victimized. In particular here in America we have some of the greatest material advantages, we want more and expect to get it. Our new world view is no longer satisfied with the simple things in life. We have the latest cars and larger homes with empty and ambivalent hearts towards the Lord and each other. Only God can satisfy the vacancies in our hearts. In fact, God wants us to do well in this life. But more importantly the Lord wants us to love Him above all things. The Lord gives good things to His children, but when the good things become substitutes of our worship and love towards Him, we are missing our purpose.Point to ponder- God will allow us to be ambivalent towards Him until we wake up and realize that our needs can’t be satisfied by anything or anyone other than God Himself. There are no substitutes for being in a vibrant relationship with the Lord. A new job, a new ministry, a new relationship, or marriage won’t relieve the vacancy. Many times it only makes it worse.
