Proverbs 6:6 (NLT) Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!
Good Morning Leaders,
We live in a challenging time in our world, where complacency and apathy have become common, even a way of life for many. Young people grow accustomed to doing just enough work to “get by.” The elderly look to their retirement as the end of all their problems. How do you live out your life? Consider the solution the proverbial leader King Solomon offers, Go to the ants, you who wish to forsake work, and consider their ways to become wise.
WE CAN LEARN SOME LIFE LESSONS FROM THE INSECT CALLED THE ANT.
Go to the ant: The ant labors little by little to get each job accomplished, each need met, each provision made. Part of the “Ants” primary responsibilities are of the female worker ants, not the queens nor the males. The ant has no guide, supervisor, encouragement, or accountability, yet she is faithful in fulfilling her duties daily. Let’s be humble enough to learn, even from an ant. We can literally learn a few self-leadership work ethics from Ants.
THE LIFE LESSON OF MOVING A LITTLE AT A TIME CAN SERVE AMAZING VALUE.
In my learning of Ants, I discovered that ants do not procrastinate; they do what they can when they can. In contrast, we can, at times, be guilty of doing nothing because we can’t do everything at once. In fact, the female ant is so slow and methodical in her duties that many of us wouldn't have had the patience to watch and consider her, as Solomon instructs us to in today’s Bible passage.
Just do a little at a time, people of God. You will notice that the passage expressly states that the ant labors (meaning works) slowly yet arduously to get the job done. Sometimes, you must take your time and do what needs to be done. There are endless possibilities of what you can achieve in every dimension of your life. If only you would take these significant life lessons from the female worker and make them a template for your life.
POINT TO PONDER
Ants are social insects, meaning they live in groups and depend on one another. Ants, as they go about their business, leave a trail pattern for other ants to know where to go and where they’ve been.
Queen ants can have millions of babies, meaning they consistently produce and reproduce.
When ants fight, it is usually to the death.
An ant can lift 20 times its body weight.
Ants’ existence is predicated on being in Community with other Ants.
