Word for the day: "Love Worth Fighting For"
Deuteronomy 28: 13-14 (NIV) The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. 14) Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.Today’s word shares a powerful truth of the heart of God for His people. It is a proven truth that God’s desire for His people has always been for them to be at the top of every sphere of society, not because we are better than others, but because He wants to reveal His love in every human being in every aspect of society. I’d like you to consider is this a love worth fighting for?The context of Deuteronomy 28:13, 14, was in Israel’s relationship to other nations. Israel had a problem with embracing the idols of other nations. God said, “Be faithful to Me, and you will be above the other nations.” A paramount understanding must be shared at this juncture. Dominion, or perhaps a better word to use is influence, is a result of our love and obedience to God, not a goal to be accomplished. It is the fruit of our obedience that touches the heart of God and transcends lives of people. Jesus never sought to have dominion; rather, He encouraged others to love one another and obey God. The word dominion must be carefully monitored because of its negative implications in our society today, so the word influence is more in line with Kingdom purposes.Sisters and brothers when we operate in Kingdom love and service, we will be attractive to the world. They will desire to follow us right to Jesus. When we become solution providers to issues of mankind, remember Jesus always solved problems, and this open the door for Him to have greater influence in the lives of people. Operating in a position of influence is a “Love worth fighting for”; it touches your family, friends, foes, and all new relationships. Blessings and Peace!Elder Baker
